Upset: Immortals start off 2021 LCS Summer Split week 7 with a win against Cloud9

Immortals Upset Cloud9 in LCS Summer Split

This weekend, Immortals made waves in the LCS Summer Split by pulling off a major upset against Cloud9. Despite being the underdogs, Immortals managed to take down the multi-time champions in a game that seemed impossible.

The game started with Cloud9 in the lead, with kills and significant gold differences in each lane. Immortals struggled to keep up and stand their ground against the dominant C9 team. However, just as victory seemed within C9’s grasp, their world began to crumble.

The match progressed slowly, with both teams prioritizing teamwork over aggressive plays. Although Cloud9 had a solid lead going into the mid game, their impatience got the best of them. They believed they had secured enough of an advantage to dominate Immortals and prevent them from making a comeback. Yet, similar to their previous performances this split, their overconfidence caused the lead to slip away.

As the game entered the late stages, Immortals struggled to fight back against the powerful Cloud9 squad. Despite picking off some of their opponents, the abundance of Stopwatches and Guardian Angels on the C9 team proved to be too much for Immortals. This resulted in hasty engages by Xerxe and Insanity, which were matched by equally questionable plays from Perkz and Zven.

When Cloud9 secured the Baron and dragon at the 40-minute mark, it seemed like victory was inevitable. However, Immortals had one last trick up their sleeve. They utilized their Stopwatches and Guardian Angels to turn the tide of the game. With four kills on the Cloud9 squad, Immortals pushed into their base and secured a much-needed victory, while fending off Zven.

Although Immortals remain in seventh place and Cloud9 dropped to fifth, this match showcased the tenacity of Immortals. They proved that they should never be underestimated, regardless of their position in the standings.
