Patch 8.16: Balance Changes and New Content in League of Legends
League of Legends is getting a big balance update this week with Patch 8.16. The focus of this patch is on balancing the game and introducing new content in preparation for this year’s Worlds tournament. Let’s take a look at some of the key changes in this update.
Nerfs
Aatrox
Aatrox’s healing against non-champions has been reduced from 33% to 15%. The number of charges for his Umbral Dash ability has also been decreased from two to one. Additionally, the cooldown for his ultimate, World Ender, has been increased.
Fizz
Fizz’s damage scaling for Seastone Trident and Chum the Waters has been lowered.
Orianna
Orianna’s base magic resistance has been reduced.
Quinn
Quinn’s attack damage growth has been reduced.
Rakan
Rakan’s base health and armor have been decreased.
Taliyah
Taliyah’s base movement speed has been lowered, and the cooldown for her Seismic Shove ability has been increased. Her ultimate, Weaver’s Wall, no longer provides vision.
Trundle
Trundle’s Troll Smash ability has received various changes, including a reduction in base damage and the duration of stolen attack damage. The total attack damage scaling has been increased.
Tryndamere
Tryndamere’s Spinning Slash ability now has an increased cooldown at later ranks.
Wukong
Wukong’s Crushing Blow ability has seen a decrease in base damage and total attack damage scaling.
Tahm Kench
Tahm Kench’s Tongue Lash ability has a decreased slow duration, but the cooldown has been reduced. The duration of his Devour ability has also been lowered, but the cooldown is halved when devouring an enemy and the mana cost has been decreased.
Zoe
Zoe’s base damage for More Sparkles! and AP scaling for Spell Thief have been lowered.
Runes
Summon Aery
Summon Aery’s base damage has been lowered, but the base shielding has been increased. This change affects damage dealers like Teemo and Brand.
Electrocute
Electrocute’s base damage and scaling have been significantly reduced, but the cooldown has also been decreased.
Celerity
Celerity’s bonus movement speed conversion to AD and AP has been lowered.
Cheap Shot
Cheap Shot’s base damage has been lowered at early levels.
Sudden Impact
Sudden Impact’s lethality and magic penetration have been reduced.
Scorch
Scorch’s base damage and cooldown have been decreased.
Buffs
Hecarim
Hecarim’s Rampage ability has received a buff in base damage and bonus AD scaling.
Amumu
Amumu’s Tantrum ability now scales with bonus armor and magic resistance, providing a buff to his tankiness.
Leona
Leona’s Eclipse ability has had its cooldown lowered.
Nautilus
Nautilus’ Titan’s Wrath ability has received several changes, including a decrease in base shield, shield scaling, and duration, but a decrease in cooldown as well.
Rammus
Rammus’ Defensive Ball Curl ability now provides higher bonus resistances.
Sion
Sion’s Soul Furnace ability now grants more max health when damaging enemies.

The cooldown for Heal has been decreased.
