Upcoming Wukong Rework won’t be prepared for League patch 10.1

Riot Games has been planning to revamp Wukong since May 2019. However, there have been several delays, leaving one of League of Legends’ oldest champions behind.

Yesterday, Riot’s lead gameplay designer, Mark Yetter, hinted that the new and improved Wukong will be arriving soon. While he didn’t provide an exact release date, it’s unlikely that the champion will be ready for patch 10.1.

It’s possible that Riot is holding off on releasing Wukong until the next patch, or it may take even longer. Regardless, the rework is on its way.

The goal of the rework is to completely overhaul Wukong’s identity, enhancing his skillset and transforming him into a more reliable jungler in the metagame. Currently, he is rarely seen in competitive play and has a disappointing win rate of 47% in platinum and above.

In order to address his insignificance and boost his status, Riot plans to modify his passive ability by giving him physical damage shields and invisibility. Additionally, Wuju Strike (Q), Warrior Trickster (W), Nimbus Strike (E), and Cyclone (R) will all undergo significant changes.

Wuju Strike’s cost will be refunded upon killing a unit, Warrior Trickster will instantly dash towards a target, Nimbus Strike will deal magic damage instead of physical damage, and Cyclone’s damage ratio will be increased.
