Unleashing Mayhem: Ranking the Top 5 AD Carries at MSI 2023

League of Legends is a competitive game where different roles have varied in importance over time. In recent seasons, the bottom lane has become crucial for a team’s success. Many top teams’ marksmen have been leading in damage and kill share.

An excellent AD carry can make a significant difference in a roster, providing a backline threat that can carry a team in team fights. They should also create enough pressure to divert jungle attention, while finding opportunities to strike in decisive skirmishes.

In the upcoming 2023 Mid-Season Invitational (MSI), some of the best marksmen in the world will compete at London’s Copper Box Arena. It will be the first time an international League event is held in the city. Fans should prepare for exciting matchups starting on Tuesday, May 2.

Here are the top five AD carries competing at MSI 2023:

Ruler

Ruler, though now in a different region, continues to dominate and win championships. The 24-year-old veteran recently helped JD Gaming win another LPL trophy. With strong teammates like Kanavi and Knight, Ruler’s potential is limitless in one of the world’s strongest rosters.

In a region known for aggressive play, Ruler had the highest KDA in both the regular season and playoffs. He also had the fewest deaths among players who participated in at least 30 games, according to Oracle’s Elixir.

This JDG lineup relies more on its solo laners compared to Ruler’s previous teams. However, Ruler’s addition adds another carry threat to this dominant team, as they aim to continue the LPL’s rule over MSI.

Berserker

Berserker, the sophomore gunner for Cloud9, is known to North American League fans. He recently proved himself as the region’s best AD carry, leading C9 to another LCS championship. He accounted for 40.5% of his team’s total kills during the postseason, according to Oracle’s Elixir.

He already showcased his skills during the regular season and will have the opportunity to shine in the best-of-three series format of MSI. Berserker’s champion pool of Varus, Lucian, Aphelios, and Caitlyn will likely remain meta for the tournament.

Gumayusi

Gumayusi, arguably the best AD carry in the LCK, is T1’s star player when it comes to scaling up and winning games. During the postseason, T1 played the longest games on average among all playoff rosters. This allowed Gumayusi to reach his full strength with six items and dominate team fights.

Gumayusi primarily played Lucian, but he has a deep champion pool. His early-game play is exceptional, leading all players in average gold difference and CS difference at 10 minutes.

Peyz

Peyz, a 17-year-old rookie from Gen.G, is an upcoming talent to watch. Although he isn’t a dominant laner like Gumayusi, Peyz compensates with impressive team-fighting skills and fearless plays. He has already earned the Finals MVP honor and broke a league record for most kills by a rookie player in his first split.

MSI will be a significant stage for Peyz as he continues his rise in the League scene. Gen.G hopes the young phenom’s talent will pay off with the organization’s first MSI trophy.

Elk

Elk, who narrowly missed his first LPL championship, has become a standout player for Bilibili Gaming. Although he has been on multiple rosters since 2020, Elk has found a home alongside superstar veterans like Yagao and Bin. He led the league in kills during the regular season and continued his outstanding form in the playoffs.

While BLG focuses more on their solo laners, Elk provides a strong threat from the backline. He must avoid getting caught out of position, especially in crucial moments that could decide the match.
