Understanding the Process of League of Legends Placements

After reaching level 30 in League of Legends, players can start playing the ranked mode. It is a highly competitive mode where players strive to win and climb the ladder. In this article, we will discuss how placements work in League of Legends.

What is LP?

LP, or League Points, are the points players earn after winning each ranked game. The amount of LP gained or lost depends on their MMR. Once players reach 100 LP, they climb a division and get closer to a new rank. There are four major divisions in each rank, and reaching 100 LP in the highest division requires winning a best of 5.

What Are Placements?

Placements consist of 10 games that players must play to receive a rank. Whether it’s their first time playing ranked or after a season reset, placements are necessary. Winning most of the placements can result in either returning to the original rank or reaching a higher rank, making the climbing process easier. For new players, placements determine their initial rank based on MMR and skill level.

Play Your Main Role

During placements, it’s best to play the main role the player is most comfortable with. This ensures better performance and increase the chances of winning. Players should also practice 2 or 3 champions to have backup options in case some champions are banned. It’s also helpful to have familiarity with a secondary role in case the primary role is not available.

Focus During the Game

Maintaining focus during the game is crucial for success. The League of Legends community can be toxic, with players typing in the chat instead of playing. It’s important to immediately mute toxic players to avoid distractions and focus on playing well. Engaging in arguments can lead to anger among teammates and hinder individual performance.

By understanding how LP and placements work, and by playing their main role and maintaining focus, players can increase their chances of achieving a good rank in ranked games. Good luck on the ladder!
