Understanding League of Legends Clash Tiers

The Clash game mode in League of Legends has become extremely popular since its introduction in early 2020. It is particularly favored by players who want to team up with their friends.

In Clash, players form teams of five to compete against other player-formed teams of similar skill levels in a tournament.

To enter a tournament, players need to pay tickets, and the rewards they receive depend on their team’s performance. There is also the option to purchase a Premium Ticket for better rewards.

In addition to these features, Clash has properties such as a name, tag, logo, and banner, which are decided by the team captain.

However, the most important aspect of Clash is the Clash Tiers. These tiers determine the skill level of the teams, similar to the Rank System in SoloQ and FlexQ game modes.

How Are Clash Tiers Decided?

The exact formula for determining Clash Tiers is not disclosed. However, it is known that they are based on the average rank of the players in a Clash. This allows us to estimate which Clash Tier corresponds to each SoloQ or FlexQ rank.

Speculation suggests that Tier 4 is for Bronze and Silver players, Tier 3 for Gold players, Tier 2 for Platinum players, and Tier 1 for Diamond and higher ranks.

Victory Points

Clash Tiers not only ensure fair matchmaking but also affect the rewards a team receives in tournaments. It’s important to note that Clash Tier only improves the team’s rewards, not the individual players’ rewards.

Specifically, Clash Tiers provide more Victory Points (VP) that can be used to unlock banners and team icons.

The calculation for VP is straightforward. Regardless of the Clash Tier, each game won awards 200 VP. Additionally, teams receive a “First-Win VP Bonus” for their first win of the day, with the amount varying depending on the Clash Tier.

First-Win VP Bonus

Tier 4 Clashes do not receive a First-Win VP Bonus. Tier 3 Clashes are granted 50 VP, Tier 2 Clashes receive 100 VP, and Tier 1 Clashes earn a substantial 150 VP for their first win.

Clash Banners and Team Icons

Every two weeks, Clash players are presented with a new banner and logo theme. By collecting VP, teams can unlock three banners and two theme logos during this period. Banners are cosmetic items displayed on profiles and during Clash games, while theme logos are similar to profile icons.

Furthermore, winning multiple banners during a Clash Season awards teams with increasingly impressive banner frames.

Conclusion

Clash Tiers not only showcase a team’s skills but also provide extra VP for unlocking rewards. With a higher Clash Tier, teams can obtain banners, icons, and banner frames more easily.
