TSM’s Strategic Control Leads to Victory over Cloud9 in Week 8 of 2021 LCS Summer Split

TSM Defeats Cloud9 in LCS Summer Split

In a highly intense battle between TSM and Cloud9 in the LCS Summer Split, TSM emerged victorious with their exceptional map control.

TSM finished week eight with an action-packed match against C9, securing their second win of the weekend. This win tied them with 100 Thieves for first place in the standings. Although C9 initially gained a slight advantage in the mid-game, they were unable to overcome TSM’s dominance.

Perkz, playing as Zoe, struggled against PowerOfEvil’s lane control due to TSM’s roaming support’s crowd control. Every time Perkz used his ultimate, SwordArt’s Leona unleashed a Solar Flare on him, followed closely by Spica’s Xin Zhao. TSM’s swift engages allowed them to accumulate a significant amount of gold on multiple occasions.

TSM maintained a solid gold lead throughout the match. Despite sacrificing several win conditions, such as objectives and turrets, C9 aimed to scale in the late game. Blaber’s Olaf served as their primary source of income, but C9 struggled to capitalize on their advantage as the game progressed.

During the game, C9 traded a Baron for TSM’s dragon soul. However, this trade proved insufficient for them to break through TSM’s defenses. PowerOfEvil and Huni delivered massive burst damage, forcing the C9 squad to reconsider their approach to TSM’s nexus. Failing to execute a double teleport into TSM’s base, C9 handed TSM the Elder Drake and ultimately the victory.

Remote Play Format Following COVID-19 Case

Due to a positive COVID-19 case among the LCS staff, the LCS teams returned to a remote play format for this weekend’s matches. It remains uncertain whether the teams will resume playing on the stage for week nine. Despite the last-minute change in location, TSM excelled and finished the weekend with a 2-1 record, securing their first-place position alongside 100 Thieves.
