TSM set to face Shenyi in upcoming Academy games following unsuccessful start to LCS season

TSM Shuffles Roster After Winless Start to LCS Season

TSM, the League of Legends team, is making changes to its roster following a disappointing start to the Spring Split. The team failed to secure a win in any of its first four games on the LCS stage. Starting support player Shenyi will be playing in the Academy league this week, replacing Yursan, who normally plays at the Academy level.

In a statement released today, TSM explained that Shenyi, as a recent arrival, needs more time to adjust to North America. The team believes that participating in the Academy league’s environment will allow him to accumulate more game time at a more comfortable pace.

Shenyi joined TSM prior to the 2022 season after being a substitute support for FunPlus Phoenix in the LPL. He played games on stage in China’s League of Legends Development League (LDL) with FPX’s Academy-equivalent team, FunPlus Blaze.

Despite their efforts, TSM and Shenyi have yet to secure a victory in North America, with Shenyi’s KDA (Kill/Death/Assist ratio) standing at 1.5, the fourth-worst among all players in the LCS according to Oracle’s Elixir, a League stats site.

While Shenyi competes in the Academy league, backup support player Yursan will start in TSM’s upcoming LCS games. TSM VP of Esports, Dominic Kallas, stated that Shenyi needs more time to adjust to the NA region and improve within the TSM team environment. Working with the Academy team is expected to help him settle in, address chemistry issues, and alleviate pressure from the current communication structure.

Shenyi will make his debut in the Academy league on February 17 against 100 Thieves’ Academy team.

Update: TSM provided a statement regarding the team’s starting lineup in its upcoming LCS games.
