TSM Announces Departure of LCS Academy Roster Following NA Challengers League Announcement

TSM Drops Entire Academy Roster Ahead of 2023 Season

With the introduction of the North American Challengers League, the upcoming year of professional League of Legends in North America holds promise for talent growth. However, one major organization, TSM, is facing uncertainties as it rebuilds its entire roster from scratch.

In a surprising announcement, TSM has released all of its current Academy players before the start of the 2023 season. Soul, Anda, Takeover, Instinct, Mia, and coach Xmithie are now free agents, each with different levels of professional experience.

Riot recently revealed the North American Challengers League, which will replace the current Academy and amateur structure in the region. TSM is expected to be one of the 16 teams competing in this league across two splits in 2023. The organization has also hinted at “exciting updates” regarding the league.

TSM’s performance throughout the LCS this year was marred by controversy due to multiple roster changes and overall underperformance, resulting in some of the organization’s lowest finishes in history. The Academy roster also struggled, finishing in the bottom two spots in the league and failing to qualify for Proving Grounds.

Among the roster changes, some Academy players were added to the main team but were frequently rotated in and out. Fans, in particular, appreciated Soul’s impact on the team during his brief time with the roster. However, the top laner chose to return to the Academy team shortly after his stint in the LCS.

It remains uncertain how TSM plans to rebuild its Academy roster for the start of the North American Challengers League, but the organization is expected to participate in the league.
