Tristana remains a strong champion in League of Legends Patch 8.5, despite range nerf

Tristana’s Power Set to Change in League of Legends Patch 8.5

Tristana has been dominating the bot lane in League of Legends recently. In response, Riot Games made a change to her ultimate ability cooldown in Patch 8.4. However, the upcoming Patch 8.5 will bring further changes to Tristana, this time affecting her range.

Range nerfs are significant as they impact how safely champions can trade damage with their opponents, especially for ADCs like Tristana. Despite this nerf, Tristana is not expected to become much weaker. In fact, she may remain at the top of the leaderboard.

To compensate for the 25-unit range nerf, Riot is planning to introduce some buffs. It seems that the balance team doesn’t want this particular nerf to have a major impact on Tristana’s power. These buffs almost entirely counteract the range nerf, resulting in Tristana maintaining her current strength if these changes make it through the testing cycle on the Public Beta Environment (PBE).

The first buff is to Tristana’s passive ability. The range provided to her basic attacks, Explosive Charge, and Buster Shot will be increased at every level. This will result in a 17-unit range buff at level 18, which is close to the original range. Therefore, Tristana will hardly feel the range nerf in the late game.

In addition, Tristana will also receive a substantial damage buff to her Rocket Jump ability. This may encourage players to use her jump more during fights, although it does come with the risk of a longer cooldown reset. Nevertheless, the damage buff is significant, with an increase of 40 base damage at all ranks.

These changes are scheduled to be implemented in Patch 8.5, which will be released next week.
