Treatz announces comeback as support player for 2022

SK Gaming’s Treatz Confirms Return to Support Position for Next Season

After a disappointing 2021 LEC Summer Split run, SK Gaming has missed out on a playoff spot, losing 13 games throughout the past season. However, Treatz, the team’s current starting jungler, has some good news for his fans. He has confirmed that he will be returning to the support position next year.

Treatz shared on his Instagram, “Our split has come to an end, and it’s time to head back to Sweden shortly and enjoy some time off. This year was a rollercoaster, but I have no regrets and I’m happy with the effort I put in. No idea what the future will hold, but I know it will only go up from here. Thank you all for your support.”

He also mentioned that while playing as a jungler was fun, he will be taking his place as a support once the next season begins. His contract with SK expires on Monday, Nov. 15. However, he didn’t mention whether he will be staying with the organization in his announcement.

Impressive Debut and Unfortunate Downfall

Treatz, a 25-year-old player, made his mark during his debut in the 2021 LEC Spring Split after spending several years in the NA Academy scene. He quickly became one of the best supports in the region, leading his team to the playoffs and gaining support from many fans. However, during the break between the spring and summer splits, SK Gaming made some significant roster changes that led to the team’s downfall.

The team’s management aimed to address issues that were preventing improvement, particularly in the jungle position. Top laner Jenax stated in an interview with , “We came to the conclusion that if we keep the roster the way it is, we are maximum going to go into playoffs and get wiped by the first team we meet again.”

In their efforts to find a solution, SK Gaming tried to acquire Gilius or Skeanz for the jungle position. However, both players were unavailable or uninterested in joining the team. As a temporary solution, Treatz moved into the jungle, and former support and current head coach Jesiz returned to pro play. Despite these changes, the roster wasn’t able to withstand the strong competition in the LEC, resulting in a lack of consistency and cohesion. SK Gaming ended the split in ninth place with a 5-13 record.

Looking to the Future

Treatz aims to bounce back next year in his original role as a support. Fans will have to wait and see if SK Gaming makes any further changes to the roster to improve their chances in the upcoming season.
