2019 Mid-Season Invitational: Epic Player Matchups Await

The upcoming 2019 Mid-Season Invitational is set to showcase some truly epic player matchups in the world of League of Legends esports. From the showdown between Song “Rookie” Eui-jin and Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, to the highly-anticipated rematch between Martin “Wunder” Hansen and Kang “TheShy” Seung-lok, this tournament is shaping up to be spectacular.

Unlike the Worlds tournament, the MSI is smaller in scale, with only one team representing each region. This means that we don’t always get the same level of high-quality matchups. In the past, we have seen teams like KINGZONE and Team WE unexpectedly take the spotlight. However, this year is different. The 2019 MSI features the best and most experienced players from around the world, making it the most exciting one yet.

Introducing the First Team: Invictus Gaming and SK Telecom T1

Unsurprisingly, the first team consists entirely of players from Invictus Gaming (IG) and SK Telecom T1 (SKT), two heavy favorites to win the tournament. IG, known for their strong solo laners, have the best top laner in the tournament, Kang “TheShy” Seung-lok. SKT’s Faker gave IG’s Rookie a tough competition, but Rookie’s wider champion pool and aggressive playstyle earned him the spot. SKT’s Teddy also outshone other bot laners, and Clid has emerged as SKT’s best player in 2019.

Introducing the Second Team: G2 Esports Joins the Mix

Things get exciting with the second team, as G2 Esports enters the picture with their standout player, Martin “Wunder” Hansen. Wunder’s consistency and strong performances make him a top contender. Additionally, G2’s Faker and Invictus Gaming’s JackeyLove were unanimous choices for their respective roles. CoreJJ from Team Liquid was also a popular pick at support, despite some struggles in the past.

Introducing the Third Team: Looking for Balance

The third team highlights the areas each team needs to focus on to secure the title. For SK Telecom T1, it’s crucial for Khan to maintain consistency, while Invictus Gaming aims to secure a solid bot lane. G2, known for their chaotic style, relies on Caps and Jankos to dominate the map and lead them to victory. As for Team Liquid, Doublelift’s performance is essential for the team’s success. At support, we have a tie between Baolan from Invictus Gaming and Mikyx from G2, both equally deserving of recognition.

The All-International Team: Watch Out for These Players

It’s not just the major regions that we should pay attention to in this tournament. The play-in stage and Group A, in particular, are stacked with talent from different regions. The all-international team consists of players like Ruin from 1907 Fenerbahçe, BalKhan from Bombers, Seiya from Isurus Gaming, BigKoro from Phong Vũ Buffalo, and RedBert from INTZ e-Sports. Keep an eye on these players as they have the potential to cause havoc in the group stage.
