Top 4 LCS Teams’ Preparations for the 2021 Summer Split: A Guide

The dust has settled and the confetti is being cleaned up in Reykjavík, Iceland. The Mid-Season Invitational ended last weekend, and it was a thrilling event for North American fans.

Cloud9, who missed out on MSI last year due to COVID-19, made a strong statement by winning the 2021 LCS Spring Split. However, their performance in Iceland left fans with mixed emotions.

With only three spots available at Worlds, every NA League of Legends team needs to regroup for the 2021 Summer Split. The top four teams in the LCS should focus on improving specific areas before the season starts on June 4.

Cloud9: The Fudge effect

Cloud9’s performance at MSI 2021 provided both hope and disappointment for North American fans. There are areas for improvement moving forward.

Perkz, the star mid laner, needs time to adjust to his role on C9. He has been underwhelming recently and struggled during MSI. The team relies on him returning to his full form.

Fudge, on the other hand, has shown great potential in the top lane. He should be given more freedom and resources to become a true carry for Cloud9.

Team Liquid: Simplify

Team Liquid had a close series against Cloud9 in the recent LCS finals. Despite missing their starting jungler, the team pushed C9 to five games.

During the break, Liquid should focus on identifying which side of the map they want to prioritize. Consistency is important, and they need to establish a specific playstyle before they can be flexible.

TSM: And simplify some more

TSM had a disappointing playoff run. Their early game, which was already weak, suffered even more during the Mid-Season Showdown. They need to regain their identity of having a strong mid-to-late game.

Addressing consistency issues should be a priority for TSM. They should focus on perfecting one aspect of their game before moving on to improve others.

100 Thieves: One day, Ssumday

With new additions to the team, 100 Thieves have a chance to build a strong roster. However, they need to address the lack of synergy between Closer and Ssumday.

The coaching staff should work with Closer and Ssumday to find a system where they can support each other and give Ssumday more resources. With a strong mid laner like Abbedagge, 100 Thieves can establish a powerful top side identity.

The 2021 LCS Summer Split is just around the corner, and every game is crucial for teams’ Worlds aspirations. The season starts on June 4.
