Camille Mid: A Surprising Pick Dominating the LCK

Prodigy Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon recently picked Camille as a mid laner for Griffin in the LCK, leaving many confused. Surprisingly, Camille mid has been performing exceptionally well in solo queue lately and may become a common choice in the split.

Chovy successfully played Camille in both games against Afreeca Freecs, defeating Son “Ucal” Woo-hyeon’s Azir and Irelia. He even experimented with different keystones, using Arcane Comet against ranged matchups and Grasp of the Undying against melee opponents.

Despite being significantly behind in CS against Ucal’s Azir in the first game, Chovy’s Hextech Ultimatum proved effective in locking down key targets for Afreeca. In the third game, Ucal had an early triple kill as Irelia, but Chovy managed to snowball after a fight at 11 minutes, giving Griffin a strong split-pushing option.

Interestingly, this is not the first time Camille mid has appeared in the split. Damwon Gaming’s mid laner, Heo “ShowMaker” Su, also used Camille to dominate Gen.G, achieving a 6/1/4 stat line and even securing a pentakill.

One common factor between Chovy and ShowMaker’s Camille picks is the presence of Sejuani in the jungle. In all three games where Camille was chosen, she was paired with Sejuani, creating a terrifying crowd-control combination with Hookshot, Glacial Prison, and Hextech Ultimatum.

Camille mid has been gaining popularity in solo queue for several weeks, especially as a counter to Sylas. Players have been experimenting with various keystones, with Press The Attack and Grasp of the Undying being the most common choices, as they amplify Camille’s damage in extended fights.

Her playrate has surged to 2.39% in solo queue, compared to less than 1% in the previous patch. While Camille currently has a 48% win rate in Korean solo queue overall, according to stats site op.gg, professional players have achieved a 51% win rate with her, as reported by Probuilds.

Camille struggles in the early game, especially against ranged opponents. However, once she acquires her Tiamat and Trinity Force, she becomes an unstoppable split-pushing threat in a 4-1 or 1-3-1 setup. Additionally, she excels in duels against most champions, forcing teams to allocate at least two players to deal with her and creating a numerical advantage for her team.

If you encounter a mid Camille in ranked games this week, or in another region, don’t be too surprised. She has proven to be a strong pick.
