Tips for catching the 2019 LCK Summer Split

The Return of League’s Biggest Guns: A Preview of the 2019 LCK Summer Split

The highly anticipated 2019 LCK Summer Split is set to kick off on June 5, bringing with it some exciting changes. As the second season at LoL Park, this split will feature the same 10 teams from the spring season, but with some roster adjustments.

Where to Watch

As always, you can catch the LCK Summer Split action in English on the dedicated LCK Twitch channel. The games will also be streamed on YouTube and the LoLEsports website.

The native Korean broadcast will be available on the LCK Korea Twitch channel, Naver, and Afreeca TV. Additionally, you can watch the games live on television on the SBS Afreeca Korean channel.

The Teams

The teams competing in the 2019 LCK Summer Split are:

  • Afreeca Freecs
  • Damwon Gaming
  • Gen.G
  • Griffin
  • Hanwha Life Esports
  • Jin Air Green Wings
  • KingZone DragonX
  • KT Rolster
  • Sandbox Gaming
  • SK Telecom T1

The Schedule

The first five weeks of the split will feature games from Wednesday to Sunday. However, starting in week six on July 18, there will be four games per week from Thursday to Sunday. Each day will have two games, with the first set starting at 3am CT and the second at 6am CT.

The Structure

The LCK Summer Split will follow a double round robin format, in which each team will play two best-of-three series against one another. The top five teams will then advance to a gauntlet-style finals system, with the first-seed team securing an automatic spot in the grand finals.

The winner of the split will receive Korea’s first seed at Worlds, while the team with the best performances across both splits will earn the second seed. The next four teams, based on their performances in both the Spring and Summer Splits, will compete in another gauntlet-style bracket for Korea’s third and final seed at Worlds.

On the other hand, the bottom two teams will battle against the top two Challengers Korea teams in the promotion tournament to secure their spots in the 2020 LCK Spring Split.
