Three players depart from LMQ

LMQ Says Farewell to Three Players

One year ago, five Chinese players made the move to America with the goal of becoming professional players in the popular game League of Legends. Their dream became a reality as they successfully competed on the world’s biggest stage.

LMQ had a humble beginning, starting from the bottom and working their way up through the challenger scene. They eventually qualified for the League Championship Series and even led the league for a significant portion of the season. While they did not advance past the group stage at the World Championships, they still performed admirably and won a couple of matches.

Now, a new chapter begins for LMQ as three players have decided to leave the team. Ackerman, NoName, and Vasilii have chosen to pursue different paths. Ackerman is retiring as a player and returning to China, while NoName also plans to continue his career there. Vasilii, on the other hand, hopes to find a spot on another North American team next season.

The future is uncertain for LMQ as they look to replace their departing players. The team will be holding tryouts, but so far there have been no standout prospects. Additionally, communication may be an issue for LMQ next season, as they will have one or potentially two Chinese players on the team. According to the Interregional Movement Policy, one spot must still be filled by a player from the North American region.

Despite the challenges ahead, LMQ can take inspiration from last month’s World Championship, where Star Horn Royal Club, a team with a mixed nationality, reached the finals. The team overcame language barriers and achieved great success.

In 2014, LMQ lived the American dream, but their season was not without controversy regarding ownership and management. While it’s unclear if these issues played a role in the players’ departures, one thing is certain: the Cinderella story has come to an end. LMQ and its players now face the task of building a new future.
