TheShy faces permanent ban from Korean League server for alleged violation of a new rule

TheShy Gets Permanently Banned from Korean Server for Losing Ranked Match

The 2023 League of Legends pro season may still be a few months away, but players like Weibo Gaming top laner TheShy are keeping fans entertained with their solo queue games. However, TheShy recently received a shocking surprise while streaming his game on the Korean server. After losing a ranked match on January 12, he was permanently banned.

Upon returning to the lobby, TheShy was met with a message stating that his account had been suspended. Confused and trying to reconnect, he couldn’t understand what had happened.

According to a tweet shared by Rita (@cutebchu), TheShy’s ban can be seen in a video that he posted on Twitter, where he tries to figure out what went wrong.

Unable to log back in, TheShy ended his broadcast early. His account remains banned to this day, listed as a level-one account with no game history on OP.GG.

It is strongly believed that TheShy was banned due to a new rule implemented on the Korean server. A tweet by Rita suggests that the Chinese server should adopt similar measures.

Riot Games Korea announced in a press release that they have suspended accounts rented to foreign professional players as part of their plan to improve LCK’s competitive environment. These suspensions began on December 1, 2022, and will continue throughout the first quarter of the year.

It is speculated that TheShy, being an LPL player, was using one of these rental accounts and was suspended as a result.

Despite his permanent ban, TheShy hasn’t been deterred from playing on the Korean solo queue. He recently started a new broadcast under a different account with a hidden name.
