These 2 ADCs Reign in Drafts at Worlds 2022, but Only One Sustains a Positive Win Rate in Groups vs Knockouts.

League of Legends Worlds 2022: Aphelios Dominates as Lucian Falls

The League of Legends Worlds 2022 Championship has reached its final stages, with only four teams remaining. Throughout the tournament, certain champions have risen to prominence, particularly in the bottom lane. Aphelios and Lucian have been the dominant AD carry picks, but Aphelios has proven to be the superior choice.

Aphelios, known as the “Weapon of the Faithful,” has lived up to his reputation as one of the top-tier marksmen at Worlds. Despite rarely being banned, he had the second-most games played in the group stage and a decent 56 percent win rate, according to League stats aggregate Oracle’s Elixir.

On the other hand, Lucian and his popular support partner, Nami, caused trouble for many teams. They boasted an impressive 73 percent win rate and were feared in the draft, leading to Lucian being banned in 87.5 percent of quarterfinal games. However, their win rates plummeted to a measly 29 percent in the knockout stage.

In contrast, Aphelios maintained his winning ways with a 56 percent win rate over nine games, the most played by any champion in the knockout stage. He also excelled in early-game farming and dealt high damage to champions per minute.

As we head into the semifinals, expect Aphelios and Lucian to be highly contested picks as T1, Gen.G, DRX, and JD Gaming battle it out on the stage.
