There’s Still a Chance for Fnatic to Upset RNG

Fnatic’s Journey at 2017 Worlds

Fnatic’s journey at the 2017 Worlds has been nothing short of fascinating. They started the second week of Groups without a single win. However, they managed to win every game for the rest of the day and even won a tiebreaker against Immortals and the GIGABYTE Marines to qualify for the quarterfinals.

Now, Fnatic is up against the LPL’s Royal Never Give Up in the quarterfinals. RNG is considered one of the top contenders to win the tournament, along with SK Telecom T1 and Longzhu Gaming of the LCK.

If Fnatic wants to overcome this challenge, they will need more than just luck.

Mid Lane Consistency

Rasmus “Caps” Winther has been Fnatic’s standout player so far. As a rookie, his consistency has been a bit shaky. However, he has shown improvement at Worlds, and Fnatic will rely on him to perform well. On the other hand, RNG’s Li “Xiaohu” Yuan Hao is known for his consistent play and versatility on various champions.

Fnatic’s jungler, Mads “Broxah” Brock-Pedersen, will need to help Caps by employing similar strategies that G2 used against RNG. This includes deep warding to keep track of RNG’s jungler and prevent any early leads.

sOAZ’s Redemption

Paul “sOAZ” Boyer, a veteran player, needs to step up his game. He has been a bit lackluster since rejoining Fnatic, but he showed glimpses of his former self during the team’s miracle run to the quarterfinals. However, he needs to be more than just a non-factor in the top lane. He will have to rediscover his aggression and match the playmaking abilities of RNG’s Yan “LetMe” Jun Ze.

LetMe is known for his aggressive playstyle and ability to initiate fights. sOAZ must either match his aggression or find ways to outmaneuver him around the map.

FNC’s quarterfinal match against RNG is scheduled for this Saturday at 4am ET/4pm CST.
