Unlocking all the champions in League of Legends can be a challenge for casual players. You either have to spend a lot of money or dedicate a significant amount of time to earn them through gameplay.
However, since December 2022, there’s a much simpler way to unlock all the over 160 champions in League. Riot Games has partnered with Microsoft, and every Xbox Game Pass subscriber can get the champions for free as part of their subscription. This means that Xbox Game Pass subscribers have access to all the champions in League and can unlock new characters immediately on launch day.
If you have an Xbox Game Pass subscription, all you need to do is visit the account linking page on Riot’s website and sign in with your Riot and Microsoft accounts. Within 24 hours, you’ll unlock all the champions and be able to play with the new characters.
Unlocking every League of Legends champion for free
After purchasing an Xbox Game Pass subscription, follow these steps to start playing with any champion you want:
- Go to the account linking page on Riot’s website.
- Login with your Riot and Microsoft accounts.
- Within 24 hours, you’ll unlock all the champions.
- Start playing with the new characters.
As of January 1, 2023, Riot and Microsoft have provided free cosmetics to players who have linked their Microsoft and Riot accounts in League of Legends, Wild Rift, Teamfight Tactics, VALORANT, and Legends of Runeterra. It’s unclear if they will continue offering free items to new subscribers in the future.
If you play Wild Rift, be on the lookout because Riot and Microsoft are planning to unlock all the champions for Xbox Game Pass subscribers later this year.
