The Rise of Knight: From Mid Lane Novice to Elite Player

Zhuo “Knight” Ding: The Rising Star of League of Legends

At only twenty years old, Zhuo “Knight” Ding has already made a name for himself in the world of professional League of Legends. Starting his career in 2017, Knight quickly gained a reputation for his exceptional skills and ability to dominate games. This year, he finally had the chance to showcase his talent on the international stage at the World Championship.

Knight, known as the “Golden Left Hand,” earned his nickname due to his unique playstyle. Unlike most players who use the right hand for the mouse and left hand for the keyboard, Knight does the opposite. This unconventional approach impressed his mentor, Liu “PDD” Mou, who saw Knight’s dominance in one-vs-one situations.

The Journey of Pingxiang’s Duo

Hailing from Pingxiang, China, Knight spent countless nights honing his skills in League of Legends. He even reached the top rank on the competitive Korean server, known for its challenging solo queue environment. During this time, Knight frequently played duo queue with Zeng “Yagao” Qi, the current mid laner of JD Gaming.

From Young Miracles to Top Esports

In 2017, Knight joined Young Miracles, a renowned organization that has produced many talented players. While on the team, Knight’s skills caught the attention of multiple LPL teams, and he received the highest salary among his teammates. However, despite his success, his former teammate Gao “Tian” Tian-Liang overshadowed him, eventually joining an LPL team.

In 2018, Knight left Young Miracles and joined Top Esports, where he had a promising debut. Although TES consistently performed well, they couldn’t secure a championship. However, this year, TES achieved their first international victory at the Mid-Season Cup, followed by a dominant performance in the LPL Summer Split, earning them the first seed for the World Championship.

The MVP of the Summer Split

Knight’s outstanding performance in the Summer Split earned him the MVP award with impressive statistics. Leading in multiple categories among LPL mid laners, Knight showcased his versatility and mechanical skill by playing 18 unique champions during the split. These achievements have raised the expectations for Knight as he enters the World Championship.

High Expectations at Worlds

As TES heads to the World Championship as the first seed from the LPL, the team faces high expectations. While some players, including Knight, will be making their Worlds debut, the veteran experience of players like Karsa and JackeyLove will be crucial. Knight now has the opportunity to prove himself as one of the best mid laners in the world by taking on other renowned players in the tournament.
