The Final Week of the 2018 NA LCS Spring Split: Teams’ Areas of Improvement
The final week of the 2018 NA LCS Spring Split is set to kick off this Saturday, and while four teams have already secured playoff spots, namely 100 Thieves, Clutch Gaming, Cloud9, and Echo Fox, there are still areas where they need to improve in order to win the race to the finals.
100 Thieves: The Rotational Meteos
During the early weeks of the split, William “Meteos” Hartman was one of the most reliable junglers in the NA LCS. However, as the season progressed, his performance declined. Meteos has been inconsistent, either making proactive and reactive decisions that saved his team or freezing without any impact. To improve, Meteos needs to focus on two or three strategies or paths and stick to them, as well as work on identifying his team’s win condition.
On Cloud9
Cloud9 had a strong start to the season, but in the last few weeks, they have struggled against teams they are expected to beat. Their main issue has been their inability to adapt to the meta. In two separate instances, they focused too much on certain strategies and were caught off-guard by their opponents. Cloud9 needs to have better backup plans and be prepared for teams that have answers to their strategies.
Echo Fox: The Dardoch Dilemma
Echo Fox has had a successful season so far, but one area where they are struggling is with Dardoch. He has been out of sync with the meta, often being in the wrong place at the wrong time. This has resulted in Echo Fox falling behind early in games. Dardoch needs to adjust his playstyle and focus on other areas of the map to help his team adapt to the current meta.
Clutch: Relying on Febiven
Febiven has been the standout player for Clutch this season, consistently carrying his team. However, if Febiven falls behind, Clutch struggles to win games. The other members of the team, especially Apollo and Solo, need to step up their game and provide more support for Febiven. Their micro-style issues can be improved with practice and experience.
