The NA LCS Rebrands to LCS for the 2019 Season
The North American League of Legends Championship series, also known as the NA LCS, is undergoing a rebranding for the upcoming 2019 season, as announced by Riot today.
With the recent rebranding of the EU LCS to the League European Championship (LEC), there is no longer a need to distinguish the North American league as “North American.” Therefore, the NA LCS will now be known simply as the LCS.

It is important to note that this rebranding does not come with any major structural or systemic changes to the North American league. It is simply a name change. In contrast, the LEC is undergoing a complete and extensive restructuring for the 2019 season and beyond.
The NA LCS became a franchised league with 10 established teams in 2018, which explains the lack of significant changes for this year. However, Riot has not officially confirmed any additional updates for the upcoming season.
The first split of the newly-renamed LCS will commence in January 2019.
