The League mobile app introduces a News tab for convenient, on-the-go updates

League Friends App Adds News and Esports Content

The League Friends app for Android and iOS now includes articles from the official League of Legends website and the game’s esports site. This new feature allows users to easily access updates and information about the game and its esports scene.

When opening the app, users are automatically directed to the new section where they can find a variety of content. This includes updates about the game, such as the week’s free champion rotation. Additionally, users can also find esports content, like the weekly edition of The Penta. This video highlights the top five professional plays from around the world during that week. It’s important to note that while Riot produces weekly esports content, The Penta is the only one not specifically aimed at North American or European LCS viewers.

Initially marketed as a way for players to chat outside of their computers, the League Friends app has evolved over the past two years. About a year ago, the app added the ability to talk to clubs and view match history. However, since then, there have been no major updates to the app.

Although the addition of the News section may not be a game-changer for most players, it is a useful feature for those who already use the app. Recent announcements, such as the patch notes for version 8.14, are now easily accessible through the app. These patch notes introduced a new cursor and nerfs to gold funneling. With the new League Friends update, all this information is conveniently available at your fingertips.

With the League Friends app now providing news and esports content, players can stay up to date on the latest game updates and esports happenings.
