The Disappointing End of a Prominent LCS Team’s Season in 2023’s Final Week

FlyQuest Eliminated from LCS Summer Playoffs, Out of Contention for World Championship

Despite making a big roster acquisition during the mid-season break, one of the most-hyped teams in North American League of Legends, FlyQuest, has struggled in the 2023 LCS Summer Split and is no longer in the running for the 2023 World Championship.

Today, FlyQuest was eliminated from Summer playoff contention after 100 Thieves’ win over NRG, even with one game left to play in the regular season. The Thieves secured a 2-0 record against FlyQuest, giving them the head-to-head victory in case of a tie in the standings.

FlyQuest’s Disappointing Performance

Before the year started, FlyQuest was considered a top contender for the LCS trophy, especially after assembling a strong roster in the off-season. However, despite their expectations, FlyQuest’s performance has been lackluster.

In the first half of the 2023 Spring Split, FlyQuest dominated the NA league and remained undefeated until week four. However, they started losing momentum in the second half of the season, resulting in a surprising playoff loss to Golden Guardians, who emerged as the second-best team in the region.

Mid-Season Acquisition and Communication Issues

During the mid-season break, FlyQuest made a significant move by signing veteran support player Vulcan to improve their roster. However, the team struggled to find success in the opening weeks, as communication issues and lack of synergy plagued their performance.

In an interview with , FlyQuest’s jungler Spica acknowledged that the individual skill of the players was never a problem. Instead, issues arose from a lack of communication and players not listening to each other. These challenges ultimately led to an early end to FlyQuest’s competitive season.

Looking Ahead

Now, FlyQuest will need to regroup for next year and address the coaching and roster building concerns that have arisen from their disappointing performance. Fans can expect major changes to FlyQuest’s roster during the 2024 League offseason.
