League’s New Game Mode, Teamfight Tactics, Tops Twitch’s Live Games List
The newest game mode in League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics, made its debut on the game’s Public Beta Environment (PBE) today and quickly climbed to the top of Twitch’s list of live games. Within just an hour of its release on the testing server, Teamfight Tactics surpassed both League of Legends and Fortnite in terms of viewership on Twitch.
Introducing Teamfight Tactics
Teamfight Tactics is Riot’s version of the popular autobattler genre. In this game mode, eight players compete against each other in a free-for-all, strategic battle. Players must carefully choose their champions, upgrade items, and arrange their units on the battlefield to secure victory.

Immediate Success on Twitch
Following its release on the PBE, Teamfight Tactics gained instant success on Twitch. Just two hours after its release, there are already over 190,000 viewers watching streams of the game. Popular League streamers like Michael “imaqtpie” Santana and Byron “Reckful” Bernstein are among those currently streaming Teamfight Tactics.

Player Rush and Server Capacity
With the release of Teamfight Tactics, there was a rush of players trying to log into the PBE. This resulted in a waitlist of over 9,000 players. Fortunately, most players were able to access the testing server within 10 minutes. To accommodate the high demand, Riot has increased the server’s player capacity to allow more fans to try out the game mode as soon as possible.
Expectations for Release
In a recent Q&A session, Rioter Ed “SapMagic” Altorfer informed fans that Teamfight Tactics will be released on live servers after the initial testing period on the PBE. The release is planned alongside Patch 9.13, which is scheduled to go live on June 25.
