EDG, once considered the favorites, made a surprising decision to bench their jungler, Jiejie, who has been leading in various stats among LPL players in the same position. Team WE, on the other hand, showcased their dominance and coordination, making it look easy against the experimenting EDG.

Despite having the opportunity to bring back Jiejie for the second match, EDG chose to play their substitute, Yu “JunJia” Chun-Chia, hoping to turn the series around. Unfortunately, Team WE’s beishang, who is regarded as one of the top LPL junglers of the split, outperformed both junglers.

Shanks, the mid laner, and Elk, the bottom laner of Team WE, received the MVP votes for today’s League of Legends series. Shanks showcased an exceptional performance on Sylas, effectively utilizing his opponents’ ultimates against them while dealing significant damage in teamfights. Elk had a standout game on Ashe, landing crucial ultimates to secure easy picks on opponents and contributing substantial damage during teamfights.

In both matches, Team WE had the advantage due to beishang’s superior performance compared to the opposing junglers. Beishang created significant leads for his team in both games before focusing on securing dragons for an early Dragon Soul. With the favorable matchups, both Infernal Dragon Souls spawned, granting Team WE a significant damage boost to swiftly close out the series.

EDward Gaming’s Standing and Team WE’s Next Matches

Following this defeat, EDG (10-3) remains in first place in the standings. However, if they continue to experiment, FunPlus Phoenix (10-3) may surpass them, as FunPlus Phoenix has displayed a more dominant performance in their recent series. Meanwhile, Team WE (8-4) comfortably sits in fifth place and appears to be strong contenders for the LPL champion title in this split. Their upcoming matches against Rogue Warriors and Invictus Gaming should be relatively easy wins, while the match against Royal Never Give Up will be a tough challenge, considering RNG’s recent winning streak in the 2021 LPL Summer Split.
