Team SoloMid Secures First Place: EU and NA LCS Day 1, Week 9 Recap

Today was Day 1, Week 9 of the North American League Championship Series (NA LCS).

Team SoloMid secured first seed in the playoffs, while Splyce continued their winning streak in the EU LCS. Here’s a recap of what happened:

EUROPE

G2 Esports (9-8-0) tied with Team Vitality (3-8-6)

Game 1: The first match was passive until about 30 minutes in when a teamfight broke out and favored G2. G2 grabbed Baron and pushed into VIT’s base, winning the game. The best performance came from G2 jungler Kim “Trick” Gang-yun, who went 2/1/9 as Malzahar.

Game 2: VIT came out stronger and aggressive. They took objectives and team kills, winning the game. VIT jungler Ilyas “Shook” Hartsema had a great performance with a 90% kill participation ratio.


Fnatic (7-6-4) tied with ROCCAT (2-6-9)

Game 1: FNC played aggressively and secured a strong gold lead. ADC Martin “Rekkles” Larsson carried FNC to victory with his Kog’Maw performance.

Game 2: ROC looked strong and won with the help of support Oh “Raise” Ji-hwan.


Splyce (9-6-2) 2-0 Origen (2-8-7)

Game 1: Splyce started shaky but came back and won after a clutch triple kill by jungler Jonas “Trashy” Andersen.

Game 2: The game was more passive, but Splyce’s mid laner Chres “Sencux” Laursen performed well as Kassadin.


Giants Gaming (8-3-7) tied with FC Schalke 04 (3-9-6)

Game 1: S04 made draft mistakes and lost the game. GIA support Morgan “Hustlin” Granberg played well as Taric.

Game 2: S04 had a strong start but lost to a quadra kill by S04 mid laner Hampus “Fox” Myhre.


H2K (6-6-5) 2-0 Unicorns of Love (5-5-7)

Game 1: H2K dominated the game and won with the help of mid laner Yoo “Ryu” Sang-ook.

Game 2: UOL fought back but lost to a strong performance by H2K top laner Andrei “Odoamne” Pascu.


NORTH AMERICA

Team SoloMid (16-1) 2-0 Immortals (16-2)

Game 1: TSM won a back-and-forth match with the help of jungler Dennis “Svenskeren” Johnsen.

Game 2: TSM dominated the game, with ADC Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng getting a pentakill.


Phoenix1 (5-13) 2-1 Team EnVyUs (7-10)

Game 1: NV had an early lead but P1 turned it around and won. NV support Noh “Hakuho” Geon-woo played well as Morgana.

Game 2: P1 jungler Rami “Inori” Charagh carried P1 to victory.

Game 3: P1 won after a clutch teamfight. The best performance came from P1 ADC Brandon “Mash” Phan.


Apex (7-10) 2-1 Team Liquid (9-8)

Game 1: APX won after a bad Baron call by TL. APX top laner Jeon “Ray” Ji-won played well as Shen.

Game 2: TL dominated the game with a strong performance by mid laner Kim “Fenix” Jae-hoon.

Game 3: APX outsmarted TL and won with the help of ADC Apollo “Apollo” Price.


Cloud9 (11-6) 2-0 Echo Fox (1-16)

Game 1: C9 dominated the game with a strong performance by mid laner Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen.

Game 2: C9 continued to dominate with ADC Zachary “Sneaky” Scuderi getting a pentakill.


Immortals (16-2) 2-1 Phoenix1 (5-13)

Game 1: P1 won the first game with the help of jungler Inori’s surprise pick of Mordekaiser jungle.

Game 2: IMT bounced back and won convincingly. The best performance came from mid laner Eugene “Pobelter” Park.

Game 3: IMT dominated the game and won with the help of support Adrian “Adrian” Ma.
