Team Liquid ascend in the rankings with victory against Evil Geniuses in Week 9 of the 2021 LCS Summer Split

Team Liquid Secures Victory Against EG in Summer Split

In an intense match during the Summer Split, Team Liquid emerged as the victors against Evil Geniuses (EG) today. Despite a lower kill count than usual, both teams displayed strategic plays and impressive teamwork, proving their readiness for the upcoming playoffs.

Top Seeded Teams Compete for Playoff Advantage

The top teams in the standings, including Evil Geniuses and Team Liquid, fought fiercely to secure a higher seed and the coveted first-round bye in the 2021 LCS Summer Playoffs. With only two days remaining to climb the ladder, both teams pulled out all the stops.

Intense Top Lane Battles Shape the Game

Alphari from Team Liquid and Impact from EG constantly clashed in the top lane, understanding the importance of gaining an advantage. With the support of their teammates, Santorin and Svenskeren respectively, each trade had high stakes, often resulting in a death. However, Team Liquid consistently came out on top, allowing Alphari and Santorin to gradually take control.

While Team Liquid struggled to secure dragons, they made up for it with the gold obtained from the Rift Herald. A successful push with the Herald led to the destruction of an early Tier 2 turret and weakened EG’s defenses. Although Impact retaliated with a push in the top lane, he lost his life in the process. From then on, Team Liquid maintained their gold advantage, limiting EG’s options for a comeback.

Team Liquid’s Victory Through Baron Plays

In a last-ditch effort, EG managed to secure the Baron objective but failed to escape with their lives. Despite a minor setback at EG’s exposed nexus, Team Liquid eventually acquired another Baron and marched into their opponents’ shattered base, securing their victory.

With this win, Team Liquid ties momentarily with EG for third place in the LCS Summer Split standings. Furthermore, they hold an advantage in future tiebreaker situations against EG. If Team Liquid ties with Cloud9, their upcoming match will determine the head-to-head advantage.
