Team Liquid and strategic coach Cain go their separate ways.

Team Liquid Parts Ways with League of Legends Coach Cain

Today, Team Liquid announced that they are moving on from their League of Legends coach, Cain. Over the past three and a half years, Cain has played an integral role in helping Liquid win multiple LCS titles.

Cain’s Contributions to Team Liquid

During his time with the organization, Cain’s coaching prowess led to several remarkable achievements for Team Liquid. His guidance helped the team secure four consecutive splits and put up an impressive performance at last year’s MSI, where they defeated tournament favorites, Invictus Gaming, in a thrilling best-of-five series.

Cain’s Journey from Player to Coach

Before transitioning into coaching, Cain started his career as a professional League of Legends player in 2012, competing in the LCK for three years. After retiring as a player in November 2015, Cain joined CJ Entus as a coach. Despite a challenging debut year with CJ, Cain’s skills caught the attention of Cloud9, who recruited him as an assistant coach in the NA LCS. After a brief three-month stint with Cloud9, Cain joined Team Liquid as their head coach.

Changes in Team Liquid Coaching Staff

Following a disappointing Spring Split this year, where Team Liquid finished in ninth place, the organization decided to bring former caster turned coach, Jatt, on board as the head coach. As a result, Cain was transitioned to a strategic coach role.

Under Jatt’s leadership, Team Liquid experienced a significant improvement in their performance. They finished in first place during the summer regular season and qualified for the 2020 World Championship. However, the team fell short in advancing past the group stage.
