Tarzan gears up for a second stint in LPL after LoL hiatus

Tarzan, who missed the 2024 LPL Spring Split, has joined Weibo Gaming’s squad just in time for the Summer Split, his second LPL team following LNG Esports.

Tarzan’s signing is an attempt to bolster Weibo Gaming’s squad and bring the team back to their glory days, according to Korean esports journalist kenzi.

Tarzan began his LPL career with LNG and finished 10th in his debut season. Despite starting poorly, Tarzan and his team improved, placing second to JDG in the 2023 LPL Summer Split finals. His most recent tournament was Worlds 2023, where his team lost in the quarterfinals against T1.

Weibo Gaming, on the other hand, finished second in Worlds 2023 last year, falling short of T1, and has since fallen off the pace. They finished the Spring Split in sixth place, falling 3-0 to JDG in 2024.

Tarzan is regarded as one of Korea’s top junglers, and he played a key role in Griffin’s 2019 LCK spring and summer split first place finishes.

With so much experience, Weibo Gaming undoubtedly expects Tarzan to conquer his demons and win a split. This would put the team back on track to qualify for international competitions. The 2024 LPL Summer Split begins following this year’s MSI and ends on May 19.
