Taliyah and Karthus banned in today’s LCK games

Smite Bug Disrupts Taliyah and Karthus in LCK Games

Taliyah and Karthus, two popular champions in the current competitive meta-game, were unable to run Smite during today’s LCK games due to game-breaking bugs identified by Riot.

The Impact on Competitive Play

These bugs have a significant impact as they shut down two popular strategies – Taliyah jungle and Karthus gold funneling – in competitive play.

Disruptions in Different Regions

There were two major disruptions caused by these bugs in different regions. In the NA LCS, the League of Legends game server crashed during a match between Clutch Gaming and Echo Fox, resulting in all 10 players being kicked out simultaneously.

Riot was unable to use Chronobreak, a tool used to rewind games, to fix the issue. Instead of a rematch, Echo Fox was awarded an automatic victory due to Clutch not having a “reasonable chance” to come back and win.

In the LCK match between KT Rolster and KINGZONE DragonX, another bug caused a 50-minute pause. However, Riot was able to use Chronobreak to resolve the problem. Taliyah was identified as the culprit, and although she was enabled for the remainder of the game, she was not allowed to run Smite for today’s games.

Future of Taliyah and Karthus’ Smite

Running Smite on these champions was rare prior to this split, so it’s understandable that these bugs slipped through unnoticed. Riot has not announced whether Taliyah and Karthus’ Smite will return for week two of the LCS, but it’s unlikely as long as the bug persists.
