T1’s 2020 Spring Split Matches Garner Highest Peak Viewership in LCK

T1 Dominates LCK Spring Season with Highest Viewership

The LCK, one of the most competitive esports leagues, has witnessed numerous teams rise and fall throughout its history. However, one team has consistently remained at the top of the standings year after year: T1 (formerly known as SKT).

Despite undergoing changes in their roster during the past offseason, T1 continues to maintain their popularity. In fact, all four of their matches so far have garnered the highest viewership in the league, as reported by Esports Charts.

T1’s clash against Gen.G on Feb. 16 reached a peak viewership of 661,000, setting the record for the highest peak viewership of the season. The second-most watched match, T1 vs. DAMWON Gaming, peaked at 540,000 viewers.

Addiitionally, T1’s matches against Hanwha Life Esports and KT Rolster secured the third and fourth positions for peak viewership, respectively. The only non-T1 match in the top five is Afreeca Freecs’ series against DragonX, which had a peak viewership of around 331,000.

New Roster and Anticipation

Prior to the start of the season, T1 experienced the departure of several key players, including stars like Kim “Khan” Dong-ha and Kim “Clid” Tae-min. Yet, the newly-formed T1 lineup generated immense curiosity among fans, making the T1 vs. Gen.G series highly anticipated.

Gen.G also made some significant moves in the offseason, such as acquiring Clid to fill their vacant jungle position. Clid, who played a crucial role in SKT’s success in 2019, has continued to exhibit dominance with Gen.G in the new decade.

T1’s Performance and Powerhouse Status

Notably, Clid currently holds the second-highest KDA among all LCK junglers, along with exceptional early game statistics.

Nevertheless, T1 has showcased exceptional performance this season and is regarded as one of the strongest teams in Korea. If the team can maintain their consistency, anything is possible for this powerhouse organization.
