T1 Secures Spot in 2021 LCK Summer Playoffs

T1, the popular League of Legends team, has officially qualified for the 2021 LCK Summer playoffs. This achievement solidifies their position as they cannot be surpassed by Hanwha Life Esports, who suffered a 2-0 loss to SANDBOX today.

Even if T1 were to lose their remaining matches against Gen.G on Friday, Aug. 6, DRX on Sunday, Aug. 8, and Hanwha on Sunday, Aug. 15, they are guaranteed a top-six finish in the standings.

On the other hand, Hanwha has the opportunity to secure a spot in the playoffs and finish above Afreeca Freecs. However, KT Rolster, Brion Blade, and DRX have been eliminated from playoff contention.

Steady Performance Despite Coaching Staff Changes

Despite the recent changes to T1’s coaching staff, the team has maintained a steady performance throughout the split. In an effort to enhance their chances of success, the organization decided to part ways with head coaches Yang “Daeny” Dae-in and Lee “Zefa” Jae-min.

In a statement on July 15, T1 expressed their determination to finish strong in the LCK and secure a spot at Worlds.

More Slots for LCK at Worlds

This year, the LCK has been allocated four slots at the League of Legends World Championship, an increase from the previous three slots. This change was due to DWG KIA’s impressive performance, as they reached the Mid-Season Invitational finals on May 23.

Faker’s Positive Outlook

Despite facing challenges, T1’s captain and mid laner, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, has remained positive throughout the situation. In an interview with Inven Global on July 15, Faker highlighted that the team and coaching staff are now working closely together to find their direction.
