T1 releases League of Legends coaches Daeny and Zefa

T1 Fires League of Legends Head Coaches

T1 has made the decision to part ways with their two head coaches, Daeny and Zefa, after just seven months with the organization. The move comes as T1 seeks to revitalize its chances of success in the remaining eight games of the season. The announcement was made through the team’s Twitter account.

Coaches Brought in for Turnaround

Daeny and Zefa had previously been part of the coaching staff at DAMWON Gaming, who won Worlds 2020. T1 brought them on board for the 2021 season in hopes of turning the organization around after missing out on the League of Legends World Championship in 2020—a rare occurrence in T1’s history.

Current Standing and Performance

T1 currently sits in fifth place with a record of 5-5 after five weeks of play in the 2021 LCK Summer Split. They trail behind Gen.G, DWG KIA, Nongshim RedForce, and Afreeca Freecs in the standings. Daeny and Zefa’s win-loss record for T1 this year is 17-13, with a win rate of 57 percent in individual games.

Looking Ahead and Uncertain Leadership

T1 expressed optimism in their statement, stating their hopes of finishing strong in the LCK and securing a spot at Worlds. However, the organization has not announced who will take over as the new head coach for their League of Legends team. T1 will be returning to the LCK stage shortly, starting with a match against long-time rival KT Rolster.
