T1 Dominates Mid-Season Invitational Group Stage
Continuing their flawless season, T1, the champions of the LCK, emerged victorious in all six of their best-of-one matches during the 2022 Mid-Season Invitational group stage. This unprecedented achievement brings their match record for the season to an astonishing 26-0.
T1 secured their spot in this year’s MSI rumble stage after defeating DetonatioN FocusMe of the LJL. They went on to defeat Team Aze and Saigon Buffalo, finishing the group stage with a perfect 6-0 record. Saigon Buffalo, with a record of 4-2, also advanced to the rumble stage from Group A.
Perfect Record at the MSI Group Stage
T1 joins Royal Never Give Up and G2 Esports as the only teams to achieve a perfect run in the MSI group stage this year. This is the first season where multiple teams have posted perfect records in the group stage. Previously, only two teams (SK Telecom T1 in 2015 and RNG in 2021) had accomplished this feat in MSI history.
Although T1 lost individual games during the LCK Spring Split series, they have not lost a decisive match this season. Their overall match record stands at an impressive 26-0, while their individual game record is 48-8.
Remaining Challenges for T1
In order to maintain their perfect season and return to the LCK undefeated, T1 will need to win two best-of-ones against each of the five other teams in the rumble stage, totaling ten more victories. They will then need to secure two best-of-fives to claim the MSI trophy and remain undefeated for the domestic stage.
The rumble stage of the 2022 MSI is set to begin on Friday, May 20, providing T1 with the opportunity to extend their flawless start to the season.
