T1 Clinches a Spot in Worlds 2021 with an Impressive Win over Gen.G

T1 Qualifies for 2021 League of Legends World Championship

T1 secured their spot at the 2021 League of Legends World Championship with a 3-1 victory against Gen.G in the LCK Summer playoffs today. This dominant performance saw T1 bounce back after losing the first game in the series, securing three consecutive wins. T1 will now face DWG KIA in the LCK finals next weekend. This marks T1’s first appearance in an LCK final since Spring 2020.

T1’s Road to Worlds

This victory also marks T1’s return to Worlds since 2019, where they made an impressive run to the semi-finals before losing to G2 Esports. By winning the LCK Summer crown, T1 could skip the play-in stage and directly enter the group stage of Worlds.

Gen.G’s World Championship Aspirations

Although Gen.G lost to T1 in the playoffs, the team had already secured a spot at Worlds 2021 after DWG’s victory against Nongshim RedForce. Gen.G will be hoping for DWG to defeat T1 in the LCK final to secure a slot in the group stage at Worlds.

The LCK Regional Finals

Depending on the results, either Gen.G or T1 will compete in the LCK Regional Finals starting from Aug. 31. This tournament will determine the fourth and final LCK representative at Worlds.
