League of Legends Introduces Sylas the Unshackled
Riot has officially revealed the next champion for League of Legends, Sylas the Unshackled. This announcement came alongside the unveiling of his powerful abilities, which includes the unique ability to steal other champions’ abilities.
Sylas’ kit positions him as a bruiser or drain tank, similar to Illaoi, but with additional crowd control abilities. However, his ultimate ability is less reliable than Illaoi’s as it relies on the usefulness of the champions around him. Sylas can siphon their abilities and use them for himself, making his ultimate hit-or-miss in team fights. Nevertheless, this introduces an exciting new gameplay mechanic to the League of Legends experience.
Sylas’ Ability Kit
Passive: Petricite Burst
After casting a spell, Sylas’ chains whirl around him, damaging nearby enemies.
Q: Chain Lash
Sylas lashes out with his chains, damaging and slightly slowing enemies. After a brief delay, the intersection of the chains detonates, applying an increased slow and damaging enemies again.
W: Kingslayer
Sylas lunges at a target with a powerful strike, damaging them and healing himself. The damage of this ability increases if the enemy is at low health, while the heal increases if Sylas is at low health.
E: Abscond/Abduct
Sylas dashes a short distance, shielding himself. He can recast the ability to whip out his chains, stunning, damaging, and pulling himself to the first enemy hit.
R: Hijack
Sylas can hijack an enemy’s ultimate for his own use. However, enemies can still use their ultimates if Sylas takes them. Sylas can only hijack the same enemy’s ultimate once Hijack is off cooldown.
