Sykkuno addresses criticism regarding co-stream of Worlds 2022 final, emphasizes it’s not motivated by money

Sykkuno Faces Backlash over Co-Streaming League of Legends World Championship Final

Sykkuno, a popular content creator, has been invited to co-stream the final of the League of Legends World Championship this year. However, this announcement has not been well received by League fans and streamers, who have voiced their discontent and called it disrespectful.

Outrage and Disappointment in the Community

Macaiyla, a prominent member of the community, expressed her disappointment in a scathing message directed at Riot Games. She stated that hiring Sykkuno was disrespectful to the content creators who primarily stream League on a daily basis. She also questioned the decision, considering that Riot already has other popular personalities like Lil Nas to expand their audience.

Sykkuno Responds to the Backlash

Sykkuno addressed the outrage during one of his streams on November 1st. He acknowledged why many people were upset about the situation and attempted to provide some context to ease tensions.

According to Sykkuno, Riot contacted him and asked if he wanted to watch Worlds and stream it. He agreed, seeing it as a fun opportunity as he enjoys playing League of Legends. He admitted that he didn’t realize it would be such a big deal for others.

Three Categories of Anger

Sykkuno categorized the backlash into three groups: those mad at Riot for the hiring decision, those mad at him because they dislike him personally, and those mad because they wanted to stream it themselves.

He empathized with the first and third categories but acknowledged that there was nothing he could do to appease the second category, as they would find a reason to be mad regardless of his actions.

Setting the Record Straight

Despite the criticism, Sykkuno wanted to clarify that he was not paid for co-streaming the event. He humorously mentioned that the offer only consisted of one zero, indicating that he is doing it voluntarily.

Sykkuno’s Final Thoughts

Sykkuno concluded his response by stating that the situation is not as crazy as people think. He still looks forward to co-streaming the event and hopes his fans will enjoy it as well.

The League of Legends World Championship final and the co-streams will begin at 7pm CT on November 5th.
