Support GorillA leaves SANDBOX Gaming

SANDBOX Gaming and Kang “GorillA” Beom-hyun Part Ways

SANDBOX Gaming announced today that they have mutually agreed to part ways with their support player and team captain, Kang “GorillA” Beom-hyun, ahead of the 2021 LCK season.

The team expressed their gratitude for GorillA’s contributions as both a captain and a reliable support player, and wished him the best of luck for the future.

GorillA Becomes a Free Agent in the League of Legends Offseason

As the League of Legends free agency period begins, GorillA’s contract with SANDBOX Gaming has expired, making him one of the first South Korean players to enter the market.

GorillA spent a year with SANDBOX Gaming after a disappointing season in Europe’s LEC in 2019. Alongside his bot lane partner Moon “Route” Geom-su, GorillA had varying degrees of success in 2020, challenging some of the best players in the league.

Despite GorillA’s performance, the team finished seventh in the LCK Summer Split and failed to qualify for Worlds 2020. While GorillA showed moments of brilliance throughout the season, SANDBOX Gaming couldn’t find the missing pieces they needed for success.

Since entering professional League of Legends in 2013, GorillA has been a consistent force in the bot lane. As a free agent, he is expected to be a competitive signing for the 2021 season, and LCK, LPL, LCS, and LEC organizations should keep an eye on him.
