Splyce emerges victorious in game 5, securing a spot in the Worlds 2019 main event by defeating Unicorns of Love

Splyce secures spot in Worlds main event group stage with thrilling win over Unicorns of Love

The match between Splyce and Unicorns of Love in the Worlds 2019 play-in knockout stage delivered on all fronts. Fans were treated to five intense games with plenty of excitement, objective steals, and even a game-changing moment with “Silver Scrapes”.

While the gameplay wasn’t always flawless, it showcased the essence of European League of Legends. In the end, Splyce emerged victorious with a 3-2 win, earning their ticket to the main event group stage at Worlds.

A rollercoaster ride of a series

Splyce started strong in game one, thanks to the stellar performance of bot laner Kasper “Kobbe” Kobberup on Jhin. However, their failure to crack the Unicorns’ base with a Baron buff cost them the game. Despite this setback, Unicorns managed to make a comeback, winning the game and putting League fans on edge.

As the series progressed, both teams faced challenges due to questionable drafts and execution. Splyce relied heavily on top lane tanks to support Kobbe as their main late-game damage dealer. While this strategy helped them secure two more victories, Unicorns fought back in game four. Despite Splyce jungler Andrei “Xerxe” Dragomir repeatedly stealing objectives, Unicorns managed to overcome the odds and force a decisive fifth game.

The final battle

In the last game, Unicorns struggled with their draft, unable to handle Splyce mid laner Marek “Humanoid” Brázda’s Syndra. Additionally, their teamfight execution fell short compared to Splyce’s performance. This ultimately led to their defeat.

Looking ahead

With this victory, Splyce moves on to the main event at Worlds. They have been placed in Group B alongside FunPlux Phoenix, GIGABYTE Marines, and J Team. While the flaws exposed during the play-in stage may pose challenges, Splyce undoubtedly has the potential to advance further in the tournament.
