SK Telecom T1’s losing streak hits 5 with defeat against Afreeca Freecs

Afreeca Freecs Defeat SK Telecom T1 in a Dominant Performance

Afreeca Freecs handed SK Telecom T1 their fifth consecutive loss today, sweeping them in a two-game victory to close out week three of the League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK).

Afreeca Freecs, currently ranked fourth in the LCK standings, faced off against SK Telecom T1, who are currently second-to-last in the league. Despite their ranking, SK Telecom T1 is a three-time world champion team, making this match an interesting one to watch.

SK Telecom T1’s unexpected poor performance in the current standings, despite their impressive track record as 2017 World Championship finalists and former LCK split finalists, left many surprised.

In the first game of the series, SK Telecom T1 showed some promise by gaining more picks than Afreeca Freecs within the first 20 minutes. However, they were unable to capitalize on this advantage, resulting in a stagnation that prevented them from extending their lead beyond two kills.

On the other hand, Afreeca Freecs focused on objective control, taking towers and denying SK Telecom T1 from doing the same. This led to Afreeca Freecs acquiring a massive 12,000-gold lead by the 40-minute mark, even though they were behind in kills.

In the second game, Afreeca Freecs continued their dominance, maintaining complete control of the map. SK Telecom T1’s passive playstyle allowed Afreeca Freecs to gain vision control over their jungle, leading to a pick, a Baron, and ultimately, the game-winning play.

Now tied for last place in terms of game record with MVP, SK Telecom T1 will face bbq OLIVERS and KSV Esports next week. In order to improve their position in the LCK Spring Split, SK Telecom T1 will need to secure at least one win against these teams. Their next match, against bbq OLIVERS, is scheduled for February 7th.
