SK Telecom T1 dominates GE Tigers without Faker

The Best Team in Korea Wins SBENU Champions Spring League

The top League of Legends team in Korea, SK Telecom T1, took home the victory in the Champions finals this weekend. Despite sitting atop the league standings all season, the GE Tigers were swept by SK Telecom T1. It’s important to note that SK Telecom T1 won without their star player, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok.

Throughout the season, SK Telecom has relied on two world-class mid laners: Faker and Lee “Easyhoon” Ji-hoon. They often switch players depending on the situation; Easyhoon starts the series but Faker comes in if SK Telecom runs into trouble.

This strategy paid off in the semifinals against CJ Entus. After CJ took the first match, Faker was brought in and the team went on to win three consecutive games. The Faker-led team secured their place in the finals, where they defeated the GE Tigers with a comfortable sweep.

SK Telecom T1 Heads to the Mid-Season Invitational

SK Telecom T1 will now move on to the Mid-Season Invitational, where they will face off against the best teams from around the world. Team SoloMid, Fnatic, and EDward Gaming are among the teams waiting to challenge the dominant Korean squad. However, due to tournament rules, SK Telecom T1 can only bring six players on their roster, forcing them to leave behind one of their mid laners, T0M.

Fans are eagerly anticipating the clash between Faker and Team SoloMid’s Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg, as well as the matchups against EDward Gaming. Faker expressed excitement about facing these teams in a recent interview.

Faker vs. Easyhoon: Who Will Take the Spotlight?

SK Telecom’s use of both Faker and Easyhoon throughout the season raises questions about how they will deploy their players in the upcoming tournament. While fans may be disappointed about the potential lack of a Faker vs. Bjergsen matchup, it is important to recognize that teams must prove themselves against both players.

Whether Faker or Easyhoon will take the stage and become the focal point of the tournament remains to be seen. The clash between the world’s best players will undoubtedly be one of the most exciting storylines this week.
