SK Gaming knocked out of 2021 LEC Summer Split playoffs following defeat against Astralis

SK Gaming’s Disappointing End to the LEC Summer Split

The 2021 LEC Summer Split has been a rollercoaster ride for SK Gaming, and unfortunately, it has ended in disappointment. The team’s hopes of a miracle run into the playoffs were shattered after their recent defeat against Astralis.

A Rough Season for SK

SK fans have had a tough season, especially after the team’s surprising performance in the previous Spring Split, where they made it to the playoffs by finishing sixth in the regular season. Treatz’s debut in the LEC was highly successful, and fans had high hopes for an even better summer showing from him and the rest of the team.

Challenges in the Mid-Season Break

During the mid-season break, SK management faced difficulties when trying to make changes to the lineup. They wanted to bring in Skeanz or Gilius as a replacement for TynX in the jungle, but they couldn’t secure either of them in time. As a result, Treatz had to step up and role swap to the jungle, while the team’s head coach, Jesiz, filled in as support.

According to SK top laner Jenax, they had concerns during the Spring Split but decided to give TynX a chance to improve. However, when they started scrimmaging for the summer, they realized that the issues persisted and even worsened in some aspects.

Struggles Continue

Despite the changes made, SK’s losing streak continued in the summer. They tried moving Jesiz back to head coach and promoting Academy support Lilipp to the starting roster, but it didn’t result in success. Before the last week of the regular season, SK had only managed to win five games.

Although SK has two more games against Misfits and Rogue, these matches won’t have any impact on their standings. However, SK still has the opportunity to play spoiler for the two teams vying for the top positions in the LEC.
