Sjokz commits to full-time role with Riot, remains a part of LCS

Sjokz Joins Riot Games Full-Time

The League Championship Series broadcast crew is going through changes as Riot Games prepares to move its studios from Cologne to Berlin. However, this time the news is good for League of Legends fans.

Eefje “Sjokz” Depoortere, the well-known host and sideline reporter, will be joining Riot Games full-time and moving to Berlin to continue her role in the biggest esports league in the world.

Former Colleagues Take Different Paths

While Depoortere made the decision to go to Berlin, her former colleagues at the Electronic Sports League and on the LCS broadcast, Joe Miller and Leigh “Deman” Smith, have chosen to continue their careers as commentators in Cologne with ESL.

Depoortere expressed her gratitude towards ESL, stating, “Over the past two years, ESL and Cologne have become more of a home than I could have ever imagined. I’m incredibly thankful for the opportunities ESL gave me and how they helped shape who I am today.”

A Reputable Face in the Industry

Depoortere has built a reputation as the face of the broadcast, being a regular presence in post-game interviews with players at the LCS, the All-Star Invitational, and the Riot World Championships.

This transition from ESL to Riot Games doesn’t mean that Depoortere will exclude herself from working at ESL events such as the Intel Extreme Masters. In fact, she will be appearing at IEM San Jose next weekend. Fans of League of Legends need not worry, as it seems that little will change for them.
