Shaco returns to the LPL Summer Split after a 7-year absence

Shaco makes a comeback in the LPL Summer Split with JD Gaming

After an absence of 2,527 days, Shaco, the trickster champion in League of Legends, finally appeared in the 2021 LPL Summer Split. Kanavi from JD Gaming picked Shaco and showcased his dominance in the first match against Team WE. His impressive performance earned him an MVP vote and led to Shaco being banned in the second game.

Despite being an unexpected pick, Shaco has been dominating solo queue and has multiple flexible build options. However, his success doesn’t translate as well in competitive play, where communication and safety are prioritized. Kanavi demonstrated today that Shaco can be a strong pick in the right circumstances. He punished overextended enemies, particularly those greedy for creep kills. By the 10th minute mark, Kanavi secured three out of four kills for his team.

Kanavi maintained an aggressive playstyle throughout the game and frequently invaded the enemy jungle to catch their jungler off-guard. While not all gank attempts were successful, Kanavi managed to build a significant lead for his team, helping them secure victory in the first game. In the second match, Team WE banned Shaco after witnessing its impact in the previous game. Nevertheless, JDG quickly adapted and picked Gwen instead, ultimately winning the series with a 2-0 score.
