Several champions, including Ryze, Lee Sin, and Aphelios, scheduled to receive buffs in League’s extensive Patch 12.11

League of Legends to Buff Underperforming Champions in Upcoming Patch

The developers of League of Legends have announced plans to improve the performance of several champions in Patch 12.11, set to be released on June 8. The update will include over a dozen buffs, focusing on champions such as Ryze, Lee Sin, and Aphelios, who have struggled in recent patches. According to Riot’s lead game balance designer, Matt “Phroxzon” Leung-Harrison, these changes are intended to maintain the unique feel and identity of each champion.

Champions with Underwhelming Performance Targeted

In the Platinum division and above, Ryze, Lee Sin, and Aphelios are known to be the weakest champions, according to U.GG, a League of Legends statistics website. Despite belonging to different roles, each of these champions has barely managed to achieve a win rate above 40% in Patch 12.10. Among them, Ryze is statistically the worst performer with a win rate of 41.59%.

Related: Lee Sin, the fourth most-played jungler in League of Legends, currently holds the second-worst win rate at 44.8%

Upcoming Changes and Additions

In addition to the aforementioned champions, the upcoming patch will also bring buffs to Xin Zhao, Nunu, Taric, Rakan, Samira, Caitlyn, Tahm Kench, Irelia, Gragas, Tryndamere, and Sylas. Furthermore, several other champions will receive nerfs, and there will be system adjustments across the board. The exact details of these balance changes will be disclosed by Riot in due course.

Continued Efforts to Improve and Maintain Balance

Matt “Phroxzon” Leung-Harrison expressed his satisfaction with the massive patch and praised the team and collaborators for their efforts. He reassured the community that the developers are being cautious not to undo previous changes and are committed to preserving item choice, champion identity, role balance, and more. He acknowledged that there is still much work to be done.
