Selfmade’s Determination: Winning on Vitality is My Ultimate Goal

Team Vitality recently announced its star-studded roster for the 2022 LEC season. The lineup, touted as the biggest in LEC history, includes Alphari, Perkz, Carzzy, Labrov, and Selfmade. The coaching staff consists of head coach Louis-Victor “Mephisto” Legendre, assistant coach Simão “Simon” Oliveira, and head analyst Dimitri “Noodlez” Zografos.

Selfmade, Vitality’s jungler, spoke to about the team’s new season and his goals for the year. The roster completed their first bootcamp in Paris, which gave them a positive outlook and showed that their personalities mesh well both in and out of the game.

Selfmade is excited to play alongside Perkz, who returned to Europe after a year with Cloud9. He believes Perkz is not just a great player, but also an excellent teammate and leader.

Vitality’s Change of Direction

Vitality has changed its approach in recent years, focusing on building rosters with new talent instead of signing big names. However, after a sixth-place finish in last year’s LEC Summer Split, they have taken a new direction. The addition of Selfmade, Perkz, Alphari, and others to the roster for the 2022 Spring Split shows a shift towards acquiring star players.

Selfmade joined Vitality after leaving Fnatic in 2019. Although the team made it to playoffs, they fell short of qualifying for Worlds. In the 2021 Summer Split, Selfmade had impressive statistics, but he believes the team had many issues that held them back.

A Bad Start, but a Bright Future

The start of the season didn’t go as planned for Vitality, with three consecutive losses. However, they bounced back with a 2-0 victory against Team BDS and G2, showing improvement. Selfmade believes this is his best chance to win, and he knows every win counts, regardless of the opponent.

While Vitality has a strong roster on paper, Selfmade acknowledges that predicting playoff contenders is difficult. Sometimes, the strongest teams underperform, while unexpected teams rise to the top. He emphasizes the importance of winning this year and also has personal goals as a streamer.

Fans can watch Selfmade and the rest of Vitality’s roster in action during week three of the 2022 LEC Spring Split.
