Selfmade departs from Fnatic as Bwipo transitions to jungle for 2021 LEC Summer Split

Fnatic Part Ways with Selfmade Ahead of 2021 LEC Summer Split

Fnatic has announced the departure of Selfmade, their 21-year-old jungler, ahead of the 2021 LEC Summer Split. While the new LEC roster he is transferring to has not been revealed yet, Fnatic confirmed that he declined a contract extension offer at the end of the Spring Split. With the coaching staff wanting to explore new options for the jungle role, the only offer they could make was a substitute position. However, Selfmade was determined to be a starter in the summer, leading to his decision to explore other opportunities.

Fnatic Farewell Selfmade

During his time with Fnatic, Selfmade established himself as one of the top junglers in Europe. He contributed to the team’s success in reaching two LEC finals and advancing to the knockout stage at the 2020 World Championship. Known for his dominant carry jungle style, Selfmade’s play dictated the pace of many matches. As the competition intensifies leading up to Worlds 2021, Selfmade will be joining a different team and wearing a different jersey.

Meanwhile, Fnatic will be introducing Bwipo as their new jungler for the 2021 Summer Split. This will be the first time the 22-year-old veteran takes on the role of a jungler in professional play, presenting a significant challenge for him and his teammates. Bwipo’s vocal and outspoken nature will be an asset as junglers are required to communicate effectively in and out of the game. With his experience and chemistry with the team, retaining Bwipo was crucial for Fnatic’s future plans.

Bwipo Enters the Jungle

Fnatic’s team director, Javier “dardo” Zafra, expressed confidence in the coaching staff’s decision, stating that Bwipo’s intelligence and knowledge of multiple roles in League of Legends will enable him to adapt to the jungle playstyle quickly. This roster change marks the beginning of a new era for Fnatic. The absence of Rekkles and Selfmade presents a challenge for Bwipo and new top laner Adam to prove themselves to the fans and the team. While there may be growing pains, the success of the lineup will depend on their ability to persevere and find a playstyle that maximizes their talent.

Don’t miss out on watching the newly revamped Fnatic in action when the 2021 LEC Summer Split kicks off on Friday, June 11.
