Schalke 04 causes major upset by defeating G2 Esports in 2021 LEC Summer Split, thanks to NUCLEARINT’s outstanding performance.

Schalke 04 Upsets G2 Esports in LEC Summer Split

Schalke 04 surprised fans and analysts with their victory over G2 Esports in the 2021 LEC Summer Split. Despite doubts about their performance after replacing two players mid-season, Schalke proved their worth.

G2 had a strong start to the season, including a revenge victory over MAD Lions. Fans and analysts expected G2 to dominate this match, considering their hunger for success after falling short in the spring LEC finals.

However, the match was more closely contested than anticipated. Schalke secured two Rift Heralds and multiple kills before the 15-minute mark, while G2 focused on controlling dragons and securing the Infernal Soul around the 20-minute mark.

Although things looked grim for Schalke, they regrouped and executed two incredible teamfights that led to an ace and a four-for-one fight. Despite G2’s perceived power advantage, Schalke outplayed them in skirmishes.

NUCLEARINT, Schalke’s mid laner, played exceptionally well against Caps and earned the Player of the Game award. His impressive performance helped Schalke secure the win with seven kills and only one death.

G2’s Wunder struggled in the match, dying seven times without securing any kills. Poor positioning and the Kog’Maw-Lulu bot lane combination made him an easy target for Neon and LIMIT.

While this defeat is a setback for G2, they still have one more game in the LEC superweek to bounce back. Schalke, on the other hand, will aim to maintain their momentum against Excel Esports.
